Children of the Sun

Corporate social responsibility
POLAND A record number of 56 teams took part in the Ninth Charity Real Estate Beach Volleyball Tournament organised by JLL on August 2nd 2018, which was held as always on the beach of the Vistula river next to La Playa Music Bar. Another broken record was how much the event raised for charity. On this sweltering August day, Dekada and BOIG had fielded a joint team, which was to go on to win in great style.

Despite temperatures of over 30 degrees in the shade, the sunshine did not stop the real estate people from playing on the scorching beach, but this was maybe because it meant more than just mere fun and exercise as all the money from the team registration fees, the following charity auction and donations collected on the day was to go towards the Stowarzyszenie Rodziców i Przyjaciół Dzieci Niewidomych i Słabowidzących “Tęcza” [The Rainbow Association of Parents and Friends of the Blind and Visually Impaired] for the modernisation of a children’s centre and the construction of an adjacent sensory therapy garden. A record PLN 767,000 was collected with 667,000 PLN raised from registration fees, the charity auction and individual donations collected on the day as well as a further PLN 100,000 later added by Globalworth. Any remaining funds are to go towards purchasing ophthalmological equipment. "Each event has broken the previous records for the number of teams, sponsors and partners, and most importantly of all – for the amount of money raised,” said Tomasz Trzósło, the managing director of JLL in Poland. “I am glad that, along with other leaders of the real estate sector, we have been able to combine a healthy rivalry with a noble cause in an annual event that is eagerly anticipated by many. And the most important thing is that every year we help children in need,” he added. According to JLL, the total raised by the event over its nine-year history now stands at PLN 2.3 mln.

Just as in previous years, the Polish Volleyball Federation was the honorary patron of the event, in which 56 teams and 392 players took part. The tournament itself was attended by around 2,000 people while Dekada/BOIG, PZU and MLP Group were to be the eventual winners to stand on the podium.

“I wish to thank all the players, attendees, sponsors and patrons for their active participation and generosity, as well as Panattoni, Globalworth, Gleeds, BNP Paribas Real Estate and JLL for their enormous contributions. It is a truly fantastic feeling to see how each year the entire real estate industry comes together for such a great cause - to help the youngest members of our society,” said Tomasz Trzósło.

The sponsors of the tournament were Agis Nieruchomości, Berlin Hyp, Goart Pracownia Reklamy, House of Tudor, La Playa Music Bar, Medicover, Mellov, Przedszkole Pomarańczowa Ciuchcia, Salwasport, Stewart Title Limited, Sttixx Bar & Grill, Top Event and TopWoman.
