Poland Nansen Refugee Award goes to Poland!

For Ukraine
The UN Nansen Refugee Award award will go to Poland for the first time. According to the office of the UNHCR High Commissioner this year's regional winner for Europe is a Polish couple, Lena and Władysław Grochowski.

A commemorative medal and an award sponsored by the governments of Norway and Switzerland will be presented on 13 December at a gala ceremony at the Palexpo congress centre in Geneva. Established in 1954, the UNHCR Nansen Refugee Award honours individuals, groups and organizations who go above and beyond the call of duty to protect refugees, as well as internally displaced and stateless people.

The Lena Grochowska Foundation was established in 2014 from within the Arche Group to help Poles displaced beyond the country's eastern borders return to their homeland. Over the years, the foundation's activities have expanded and now also include support for people with intellectual disabilities and projects that oscillate around culture, art and traditions in the broadest sense. The UN Refugee Agency recognised the foundation's special contribution to supporting war refugees from Ukraine. After the outbreak of war, Lena and Władysław Grochowski invited those in need to their hotels and later created support homes for Ukrainian families.

Congratulations!!!
