POLAND First privately-built state school on its way

Public buildings
Echo Investment and its subsidiary Archicom have started the construction of a primary school for 450 pupils on ul. Konstruktorska in the Służewiec sub-district of Warsaw’s Mokotów district.

The foundation stone ceremony for the new school took place on December 5th and was attended by representatives of the Mayor of the City of Warsaw, the authorities of the Mokotów District of the City of Warsaw, the companies involved in the project, as well as the staff and pupils of the Szkoły Podstawowej nr 119 im. 3. Berlińskiego Pułku Piechoty primary school, who will be relocated to the new school.

Its development is aimed at supplementing Modern Mokotów – a 15-minute city multifunctional project comprising around 1,600 apartments in a nearby quarter bounded by ul. Marynarska, ul. Wołoska, ul. Domaniewska and ul. Postępu, which is being developed by Archicom. The plan is to transform a district that was in the past an industrial zone and later came to be dominated by office development into one that is comfortable for everyday living, with easy access to public transport, education, services and leisure activities, as well as over 3.5 ha of green space. The first phase of Modern Mokotów (three buildings) should be completed in H1 2025. Warsaw-based studio BBGK is responsible for the design of the entire quarter.

The industrial part of Służewiec is changing into a residential area, and this new educational institution is a response to the voices and needs of the area’s residents, especially the youngest ones. The construction of the school in Służewiec Północny perfectly addresses an educational gap on the map of Mokotów that we have been striving to fill, both as the local authority and as the parents of children growing up in our district.
Rafał Miastowski, the Mayor of the Mokotów District of Warsaw

The school, which will provide public education for grades 1–8 as well as a preschool, is scheduled to open in time for the start of the school year beginning in September 2025. It has been designed by Warsaw studio WWAA and will also be the first public school built for a Polish city by a private investor.
