Going full nuclear

To be honest, I’ve always been rather ambivalent about this topic, but recently I found myself at a conference where the key speaker couldn’t understand why just one nuclear power plant was being built in Poland. “Why not five?” he asked. Many investors seem to think nuclear power is a no-brainer. How many times have you heard proponents of green energy say that the sun doesn’t shine at night, that you cannot guarantee that the wind will blow when power consumption peaks, and that battery technology is still insufficient for the vast amounts of power storage required to run the green economy. Nuclear power is the silver bullet to solve all such woes. Obviously, killjoy naysayers will point out that in 1986, Chernobyl went boom and everyone living in Europe was showered with a generous dosage of radiation.
