Poland Former Russian building to house Ukrainian refugees

For Ukraine
The City of Warsaw has repossessed a building, at ul. Sobieskiego 100 in the city's Mokotów Dolny district, from the Russian Embassy.

The city is to use the property to house Ukrainian refugees. The Russian Federation had, up until now, been refusing to hand over the property, despite having already lost its legal battle in the courts.

It is extraordinarily symbolic that we have finally closed this case after many years at a time of Russian aggression. And also that this building is to be used by the Ukrainian community. Currently, every room is being inspected and everything inside is being logged. After the inventory is taken we will look at the condition of the building. Many private companies have volunteered to help with renovating the property.
