Poland Strabag real estate makes room for Ukrainian refugees

Strabag Real Estate working with the city of Warsaw has prepared 200 beds in the Atrium International Office building for refugees fleeing from the war in Ukraine.
The developer has also given over space, where up to 300 people may be housed, in the Plaza shopping centre in Kraków for use by the city and other charities. On Friday, Strabag Real Estate donated 700 sqm to the city in the Atrium International buildings. On Sunday a further 1,500 sqm was made available and on Monday another 1,100 sqm. Poland Poland’s Logistics Investment Market Posts Strong First Half

Poland’s industrial and logistics investment market recorded EUR 782 mln in transactions in the first half of the year, across 18 deals. This was 36 pct above the five-year average and the sector’s third-highest first-half investment volume on record, after 2020 and 2021. The strong showing was driven by more than a return of large deals, however. Investors are increasingly prioritising long-term, predictable income, while sale-and-leaseback transactions are becoming an increasingly important way of bringing assets to market.

Poland’s industrial and logistics market entered 2026 with a marked increase in tenant activity. In the first half of the year, demand reached its highest level since 2022, while the vacancy rate fell to its lowest level in more than three years. At the same time, Poland’s total modern warehouse stock approached 37.5 mln sqm, reinforcing the country’s position as the most developed logistics market in Central and Eastern Europe.

Romania Romania’s Retail Market Grows

Romania’s consumer spending continued to support the expansion of the retail sector in 2025 despite persistent inflationary pressures. The 125 major retailers analysed generated more than EUR 42 bln in sales during the year, representing a 5.6 pct increase compared with 2024 and a 77 pct increase compared with 2019, according to the 'Romania Retail Snapshot 2026', published by real estate consultancy Cushman & Wakefield Echinox. The study is based on the financial results of companies operating across 13 retail segments.

Matexi Polska is entering the final stage of its Splot Wola residential development at ul. Sowińskiego 28 in Warsaw, with more than 75 pct of the apartments already sold. Construction is also nearing completion, with work scheduled to finish in Q3 2026. The occupancy permit is expected to follow, with apartment handovers planned for Q4.

Poland EPP takes EUR 106 mln in financing

EPP has completed the EUR 106 mln refinancing of four M1 shopping centres in Bytom, Częstochowa, Poznań and Radom. The refinancing supports the company’s efforts to optimise its capital structure. Absa Corporate and Investment Banking and Nedbank Corporate and Investment Banking (Nedbank CIB) provided the financing in equal shares.

The City of Poznań and Dekpol Budownictwo have signed a contract for the major redevelopment of the Poznań Palm House. The city’s landmark attraction will undergo an extensive upgrade to bring it up to modern technical standards and provide better conditions for its plants and animals. The contract was signed on 17 August, with Dekpol Budownictwo appointed as the general contractor.

Under a long-term lease agreement, the company has taken an additional 592 sqm on the building’s fourth floor. Romania Horizon City wins financing

Horizon City, a residential being project developed by British investor Ghai Sant Ram in northern Bucharest, has secured EUR 36.5 mln in financing from Libra Internet Bank.
