Hungarian retail market lures new brands

HUNGARY 13 new retail brands have entered or are scheduled to enter the Hungarian market this year, up from six new entrants in 2014, says CBRE.
According to the analysts, as Hungarian retail sales increased by 6.1 pct y-o-y in H1 2015, new retailers mostly sought for prime high-street locations and prime shopping centres in Budapest. “Most of them were fashion and homeware retailers. Italian and CEE brands were the most active. Beside international retailers, a number of new Hungarian brands – mainly start-up fashion brands and food retailers – have also emerged on the market,” claims CBRE. Poland Data centres could supply more heat to Polish cities

Poland’s growing data centre market could create a significant new source of waste heat for heating networks. According to analysis by the Polish Data Centre Association, if the market continues to expand, recovered heat from data centres could equal more than 7 pct of the heat currently supplied to Poland’s district heating networks by 2030. By 2035, that figure could reach 16 pct.

Retail parks strengthen their position in Poland

Retail parks are strengthening their position as one of the key segments of Poland’s retail property market. Their share of new supply continues to grow, with developers pursuing projects in both major cities and smaller towns. At the same time, the format is moving beyond its traditional focus on discount stores and convenience retail. According to the 'Retail parks uncovered' investment report prepared by Avison Young in cooperation with CMS, Newgate Investment and PROH, Poland currently has 3.8 mln sqm of retail park space, accounting for 25 pct of the country’s modern retail stock. A further 746,000 sqm across 88 projects is under construction.
