Kartuzy ring road under construction

POLAND Strabag has been awarded a contract by the Provincial Road Authority in Gdańsk for the first stage of construction of the ring road of Kartuzy.
Under the PLN 14.6 mln net contract, an almost 2 km section is to be built. Strabag is to redevelop provincial road no. 224 from ul. Węglowa to the junction with ul. 3-go Maja, which will have a length of 0.882 km, after which an entirely new 1.1 km section from there to the junction with provincial road no. 211 (ul. Gdańska). These will be connected by a new 0.6 km section of the road with a width of 8m, which will run parallel to ul. Węglowa. Separating islands, pedestrian islands, pavements, cycle paths and pedestrian/cycling routes are to be constructed as well as three culverts with passages for small animals. The first stage carried out by Strabag will connect Grzybno village (at the junction with provincial road no. 224 towards Przodkowo) to the junction with provincial road 2011 towards Żukowo. A 2.6 km section from the provincial road no. 211 to Żukowo to the junction with provincial road no. 228 towards Bytów is planned to be carried out later, in the second stage of the project. The final, third stage will involve the construction of a 4.2 km stretch of road from the junction with the current provincial road 211, west of the limits of Kartuzy town to the beginning of the section of the first stage. The completion of all the stages is planned for 2020
