EU funds for Warsaw metro

POLAND Warsaw’s second metro line has obtained PLN 1.83 bln in EU financing for the PLN 3.16 bln infrastructure development.
Representatives of the Centre for EU Transport Projects (CEUTP) and the city of Warsaw have signed an agreement to finance the construction of another six stations along the city’s second metro line as part of the Operational Programme Infrastructure and Environment 2014-2020. The project involves the extension of the second metro line by app. six kilometres. Three new stations – Szwedzka, Targówek and Trocka – are to be added to the north-eastern stretch of the line in Warsaw

Strabag to help build Fehmarn tunnel

Strabag has been appointed by DB InfraGO AG to construct several sections of the Fehmarn Sound Crossing, connecting the island of Fehmarn with the German mainland via a 2.2 km tunnel. The tunnel is to replace the existing Fehmarn Sound Bridge. Road traffic will run on four lanes through two tunnel tubes, while a rail line will be routed on two tracks in separate tubes.
