Vilnius Tech Park goes virtual

Office & mixed-use development
LITHUANIA Vilnius Tech Park, based in the buildings of the historic Sapieha palace, has introduced virtual membership. The programme will allow more organizations not only to use the park‘s infrastructure, contacts, and partners, but also to contribute to the development of the country‘s startup ecosystem without having a physical presence.

“Our goal is to bring together prospective startups, established technology companies, investors, business consultants and other talented innovators to help each other grow internationally. As there is no vacant work space and the waiting list is growing, we have decided to offer virtual membership that will make it possible to use the park's resources without a physical workplace,“ said Darius Žakaitis, the executive director of Vilnius Tech Park.

Those who are approved as virtual members will be able to use the working areas, will have direct contact with the companies operating in the park, will be able to participate in weekly events and training courses. The programme is open to both startups and corporations.

Members will also be able to make use of the services of the parks partners such as legal consultancy from Cobalt, accountancy from Integre, investment from business accelerator StartupHighway and the software services of Devs.lt.

The new programme is also available to foreign startups who want to launch their products or services in Lithuania. "One of the benefits of virtual membership is the availability of an official park address and postal box service. Foreign companies can therefore use us to register an address in Lithuania. This is much appreciated by startups from neighbouring countries looking to expand into Lithuania or into the EU, especially from Belarus, Russia, and Ukraine,“ explains Darius Žakaitis. The virtual membership programme is currently in its pilot stage but is to be expanded to meet the needs of its members.

Vilnius Tech Park unites over 60 organisations, including startups, technology companies, business accelerators, and venture capital funds. The park includes not only work space, but also a bistro, a bar and a conference centre. Members can use the exclusive business services of other members as well as an international network of companies.

Based in the historic buildings from the 19th century, the park aims to attract talent from the gaming, data mining, cyber security, finance technology, and digital design sectors. Companies that already operate in the 9,000 sqm area include Google, Deeper, Telesoft, CGTrader, Code Academy, and Reach for Change. The financial partner of the park is DNB bank.
