POLAND Major renovation work has started on pl. Rapackiego in the centre of Toruń.

The first stage of the PLN 72.4 mln project will take until July and involves the redevelopment of ul. Chopina and Wały Sikorskiego. “The tramlines thoroughly renovated and new sections will be added. The roadways, pavements and cycle paths are also to be redeveloped. A new platform for the tramline will also be built,” reveals Michał Zaleski, the mayor of Toruń. Euro Styl, part of Dom Development Group, has put 78 apartments on the market as part of the latest stage of the Konstelacja development on ul. Paderewskiego in Pogórze, near Gdynia. Two three-storey buildings are to be built with apartments ranging from 33 to 76 sqm. Handover is scheduled for Q2 2028.

Kraków office take-up falls 52 pct despite Q2 rebound

Around 73,000 sqm of office space was leased in Kraków in the first half of 2026, 52 pct less than in the same period last year. Leasing activity nevertheless picked up sharply in the second quarter, with take-up three times higher than in the first three months of the year.

Rohe completes first stage of Kozielska Park in Katowice

Rohe has completed the first stage of the Kozielska Park development in Katowice and has started handing over apartments to their new owners. The first building comprises 68 apartments ranging from 26 to 62 sqm, as well as four retail units. The developer is already preparing the next stage, with construction scheduled to start in Q3 2026.

Polska 7R starts construction of parcel sorting centre in Bydgoszcz

7R has started construction of a 9,700 sqm build-to-suit centre in Bydgoszcz. The new building at 7R Park Bydgoszcz I will house a parcel sorting centre for an undisclosed tenant specialising in logistics solutions for the e-commerce sector. The centre is due to be completed in Q1 2027.

Romania’s new Territorial Planning, Urbanism and Construction Code (CATUC) changes how real estate projects are planned, approved and developed. For Dan Craciunescu, founder of West Group, which operates in both Romania and Germany, the new Code introduces principles that bring Romania closer to practices used in the German market and could provide a more predictable framework for urban planning.

Poland Warsaw developers increase supply as sales stall

Warsaw developers significantly increased the number of new apartments for sale in the second quarter of 2026, but sales fell. They brought 4,753 homes to market, up 66.8 pct from the previous quarter, while 3,840 apartments were sold, a 9.4 pct decline. The increase in supply pushed the number of apartments available for sale to 16,345 at the end of June, up 7.1 pct from three months earlier. Even so, quarterly sales remained 4.6 pct above the five-year average of 3,670 homes, according to data from CBRE and Tabelaofert.pl.

Global luxury brands are expanding more cautiously, choosing markets and locations more carefully rather than rapidly adding stores, according to Colliers’ EMEA Retailer Performance & Consumer Spending Trends report. Weaker consumer confidence, higher costs and a less certain economic outlook are making retailers pay closer attention to sales and profitability. Warsaw remains one of the markets attracting interest from luxury brands, including some that have yet to enter Poland.

New railway station planned for Łapy

Polish State Railways (PKP) has launched a tender to appoint a contractor to build a new railway station in Łapy, with bids due by 28 August. Construction is scheduled to get underway in the fourth quarter of this year, with the station expected to open by the end of 2027.

EUR 54 bln worth of contracts to be awarded for Port Polska in 2026

Contracts worth more than PLN 14 bln have already been awarded in announced tenders for the Port Polska air and transport hub development in central Poland, with another PLN 40 bln to be awarded by the end of the year.

Hydrobudowa Gdańsk to modernise Władysławowo quay for BC-Wind

Ocean Winds has selected Hydrobudowa Gdańsk as the general contractor for adapting part of the port infrastructure in Władysławowo on the Baltic coast to support the BC-Wind offshore wind farm project.

Intermodal strengthens Poland’s position on the European logistics map

In the first quarter of 2026, Polish railways transported almost 790,000 TEUs in intermodal transport. This segment's share of total rail transport reached a record 19.2 pct. Further development of services depends on investments in linear and point infrastructure.

Orlen buys 216 MW hybrid renewable energy project in Wielkopolska

Orlen Group has finalised the purchase of a hybrid renewable energy farm project with a total capacity of 216 MW in Kazimierz Biskupi in Wielkopolska. The complex, combining solar and wind power, will generate around 315 Gwh of electricity, meeting the needs of almost 143,000 households.

Tender for Tomaszów Mazowiecki station reconstruction

Polish State Railways (PKP S.A.) is planning the comprehensive modernization of the railway station in Tomaszów Mazowiecki. Following the completion of the design phase, the PKP has announced a tender for the selection of a general contractor. Bids can be submitted until August 21st of this year.

Budimex builds over the Ruda

The road bridge on ul. Dworcowa over a railway line and the river Ruda has been opened, representing one of the most important stages in the modernisation of railway line No. 148 on the Pszczyna – Żory section carried out by Budimex. The project was commissioned by PKP PLK.

Grudziądz railway station under renovation

Budimex has begun a full-scale refurbishment and modernisation of Grudziądz railway station on behalf of Polish State Railways (PKP). Delivered under a design-and-build contract, the project includes restoring the historic station building while preserving its modernist character, improving accessibility, and creating a safer, more comfortable environment for passengers.

Two fire stations for CPK airport

Port Polska has obtained construction permits for two airport fire and rescue service watchtowers. The new facilities will ensure the safety of the future airport and enable even faster response to emergencies.

Strabag to build for Wrocław Airport

Wrocław Airport is to construct a terminal to serve passengers travelling outside the Schengen Area. The project. which is being developed in an investment of PLN 15.4 mln, will increase the airport's capacity, improve passenger traffic management, and maintain a high level of comfort until the expansion of the main terminal is completed. Strabag is the contractor for the project, and the work is to be completed by April 30, 2027.

Mielec station to be rebuilt

Polish State Railways (PKP) has awarded a tender to build a new railway station in Mielec. The contract has already been signed and work will start this summer.

Warsaw maps out noise pollution

The city of Warsaw has begun preparations for the development of a new Strategic Noise Map. The city has announced a tender to draw up a document that will map the level of acoustic nuisance in various parts of Warsaw.

Pekabex to build Malbork shelter

Pekabex BET won two tenders in Malbork for the design and construction of civil defence infrastructure. The two contracts are worth more than PLN 10 mln gross.

PKP to modernise two more stations

Polish State Railways (PKP) has announced tenders to prepare designs for the reconstruction of the Lubań Śląski and Kudowa-Zdrój railway stations.

Port of Poland moves closer with location decisions

The Masovian Region has issued a decision establishing the location for a railway junction on the eastern side of the new airport. The document, which comes into immediate effect, clears the way for the Central Communication Port (CPK) to apply for construction permits.

Budimex builds in Slovakia

Budimex has handed over the motorway junction of the D1 and D4 roads in Slovakia, 90 days ahead of the deadline specified by the consgtruction contract.

Green light for Port of Poland

The National Appeals Chamber (KIO) has dismissed the appeal lodged against the construction of foundations for the passenger terminal of the Port of Poland airport. This means that the winning bid filed by Budimex in the tender has been upheld and the general contractor contract may now be signed.

Strabag wins EUR 255 mln contract

Strabag has been awarded a EUR 255 mln contract from PKP PLK (the Polish State Railways) to upgrade a 31 km section of railway between Maksymilianowo and Wierzchucin in the Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship (north-central Poland).

Hill International to work on Central Communication Port

The Central Communication Port (CPK) has selected the general contract engineer for the new national airport as part of the Port Polska programme. The winning bid of PLN 1.59 bln was submitted by a consortium led by Hill International.
