Green light for Gdynia Waterfront

Construction
POLAND Vastint Poland has received a building permit for the first part of the second stage of its Gdynia Waterfront project.

Construction work is expected to start in the spring of 2020. Under the permit, four buildings with a total area of 44,000 sqm are to be developed as well as underground parking facilities. The two office buildings to be built on ul. Waszyngtona will include 14,500 sqm of leasable space, while two further buildings are to be built away from the street with a total of 126 apartments.

Waterfront is a multifunctional complex that is being built within the following streets: Waszyngtona, Hryniewickiego and Jana Pawła II, in the immediate vicinity of Skwer Kościuszki and Sea Towers in Gdynia. The design was created by JEMS architectural studio.

The first stage of the Waterfront project was delivered in 2015 and comprises an office block and a hotel on Nadbrzeże Prezydenta. Eventually the existing complex is to gain an additional 80,000 sqm of mixed-use space to be built on a 4 ha site. Once the office and residential buildings are completed an office building, a service area, a further hotel with conference space as well as leisure and entertainment facilities including a cinema are also planned. Public life is to centre around a square to be built next to Skwer Kosciuszki. Green areas will give divide the area up into functional zones and give the development a seaside character.

“Because the planned project is so big, it is going to be developed in stages. We are going to start the development from ul. Hryniewickiego, while leaving a passage to the Marriott hotel from ul. Jana Pawła II. It will take us a few months to select the general contractor. Construction work is likely to start in the spring of next year and the development of the buildings on Kościuszki Square will start one year later. We are currently working on the architectural design for this part of the complex,” said Janusz Tybuszewski, a project manager at Vastint Poland.
