Shipping conditions along the Odra are to be improved

POLAND Six infrastructure projects have been awarded European Union financing worth almost PLN 722 mln. The ports of Szczecin and Świnoujście will be extended and modernised, 22 railway platforms in three provinces will be adapted to the needs of the disabled and shipping facilities along the river Odra are to be improved.
Four of the six contracts signed are for work in ports, worth over PLN 1 bln of which PLN 555 mln comes from the EU. Quays and access roads are to be rebuilt. The Dębicki Canal in the port of Szczecin is also to be deepened and expanded. The work will allow bigger seagoing ship to enter the ports of Szczecin and Świnoujście.
Facilities are also to be built so that ferries can charge their batteries from the shore and have their sewage tanks pumped out. Polish Railways is to receive PLN 81
