Biggest bore in Łódź

POLAND The first few elements of a tunnel boring machine (TBM), including a shield with a diameter of 13m, have been delivered for the use in the tunnel project between the Łódź Fabryczna and Łódź Kaliska/Łódź Żabieniec stations.
The tunnel project is to take around two years. The mechanical ‘mole’ weighs around 1,560 tonnes and it is 115m in length. It will be used to bore a double track tunnel from the starting chamber between ul. Odolanowska and ul. Stolarska, through the Łódź Polesie and Łódź Śródmieście underground stations, to Łódź Fabryczna station. The tunnel will have a length of 3km and a diameter of 12.7m. The Brno office market ended 2025 with rising vacancy rates and a record low number of new projects. In Ostrava, new construction has practically come to a standstill, and the situation is no better in other regions. Developers outside Prague are thus increasingly focusing on apartments, as office projects simply aren’t profitable without pre-leases or exceptional locations.

Strabag to help build Fehmarn tunnel

Strabag has been appointed by DB InfraGO AG to construct several sections of the Fehmarn Sound Crossing, connecting the island of Fehmarn with the German mainland via a 2.2 km tunnel. The tunnel is to replace the existing Fehmarn Sound Bridge. Road traffic will run on four lanes through two tunnel tubes, while a rail line will be routed on two tracks in separate tubes.
