Toruń closer to new bridge

Infrastructure
POLAND The roads authority in Toruń has chosen contractors for teh reconstruction and extension of the Piłsudski bridge and the construction of a temporary bridge in Toruń.

The project should be completed in autumn 2021. A tender for this, one of the largest infrastructure projects in the city’s history, was announced in December. Last week an agreement was signed with the contractor of the project – a consortium led by Intop Warszawa and including Euro-Darmal worth almost PLN 123 mln.

This was followed by a tender to choose the project manager for the construction and demolition of the temporary bridge also took place. Six companies took part valuing their services from almost PLN 500,000 to more than PLN 2 mln. The cheapest bid, of PLN 495,800, was submitted by Gdańsk-based company Optemconsult and was selected by the tender committee but this decision has yet to be finalised.

Pedestrian traffic is to continue along the bridge during its reconstruction while vehicular traffic will be moved to the temporary bridge.
