HUNGARY Weerts plans 120,000 sqm warehouse park in Budapest

Warehouse & industrial
Erste Real Estate has signed an agreement to sell Belgian developer Weerts Group 30.6 ha of the 116 ha of land it owns near Ecser on the eastern outskirts of Budapest.

On the site adjacent to the M0 motorway, Weerts is planning to develop a 120,000 sqm warehousing park. VLK Cresa represented Weerts during the negotiations. The company has already working on a 46,000 sqm big box project in nearby Nagytarcsa.

The Ecser investment is testimony to our group’s long-term commitment to Hungary. Since the beginning of our presence in the country, we have been impressed by the quality of the infrastructure and the pro-business approach taken by the various public authorities. We strongly believe that the East Budapest region, with its proximity to the airport, excellent road infrastructure and the availability of skilled labour is the best development area for this type of property in Hungary.
Pascal Weerts, the CEO of Weerts Group

This is already our second major deal in Ecser. In April, we sold an 57 ha plot where retail chain Jysk is developing its new local logistics centre. We are proud to cooperate with two distinguished multinational companies and support their expansion in Hungary.
Andre Gégény, the CEO of Erste Real Estate

We are witnessing continuous interest in our Ecser property, where we still own 88 ha. We hope to find buyers soon given the excellent location of the plot and the current outstanding performance of the Hungarian logistics sector.
Melitta Molnár, a regional asset manager at Erste Real Estate
