ROMANIA Scallier to develop Romanian retail park chain

Polish company Scallier has announced plans to develop a chain of six retail parks in Romania.
The six Funshop parks, which will have a combined leasable area of 40,000 sqm, are to be located in Moșnița Nouă (near Timișoara), Hunedoara, Roșiorii de Vede, Focșani, Vaslui and Vladimirescu (near Arad). All the projects should be completed in 2022. One characteristic feature of these projects will be the diverse food & beverages offer expected by Romanian customers. LPP, owner of the Reserved, Cropp, House, Mohito and Sinsay brands, has relocated its Warsaw office to Saski Crescent. The company has taken 2,000 sqm of space combining offices, a showroom and business meeting areas. Colliers advised LPP on the lease, while its Colliers Define team was responsible for the interior design and fit-out.

Poland is strengthening its position among developed markets. S&P Dow Jones Indices has decided to reclassify the country from an emerging to a developed market. The change will take effect in September 2027, when Poland will join the S&P Developed BMI as the 27th country in the index. FTSE Russell and STOXX already classify Poland as a developed market.

Romania’s Retail Market Grows

Romania’s consumer spending continued to support the expansion of the retail sector in 2025 despite persistent inflationary pressures. The 125 major retailers analysed generated more than EUR 42 bln in sales during the year, representing a 5.6 pct increase compared with 2024 and a 77 pct increase compared with 2019, according to the 'Romania Retail Snapshot 2026', published by real estate consultancy Cushman & Wakefield Echinox.
