Czech Republic Vinci to build PPP motorway

A consortium of VINCI and Meridiam has been awarded a PPP contract to build the D4 motorway between Příbram (Central Bohemia) and Písek (South Bohemia).

The consortium is to be responsible for designing, financing, building, operating and maintaining the 32 km stretch of road and will convert a 17 km section of road into a dual two-lane carriageway. The contract will last for 28 years including around 4 years during which construction work will take place and represents an investment of around CZK 16.5 bln (app. EUR 600 mln). The design and construction work will be carried out by VINCI subsidiary Eurovia CS, which has been operating in the Czech Republic since 1992.

This is the first public-private partnership motorway contract ever awarded by the Czech Republic.

Poland Data centres could supply more heat to Polish cities

Poland’s growing data centre market could create a significant new source of waste heat for heating networks. According to analysis by the Polish Data Centre Association, if the market continues to expand, recovered heat from data centres could equal more than 7 pct of the heat currently supplied to Poland’s district heating networks by 2030. By 2035, that figure could reach 16 pct.

Tunnel boring soon to begin
