Poland A2 moves towards Belarus

Infrastructure
Eight bids have been received in the open tender to build and design a 19 km stretch of the A2 motorway between the Siedlce Zachód junction and Malinowiec.

This will be the first of four tenders to extend the motorway from Siedlce to Biała Podlaska. The lowest bid was by Strabag for PLN 699.9 mln while the highest was by Polaqua for PLN 702.2 mln. All the bids are below the budgeted PLN 910.5 mln. The bids are to be assessed under the criteria of the guarantee (30 pct weighting), speed (10 pct), and price (60 pct). All of the bidders have offered to do the work in 33 months and have guaranteed the acoustic barriers for 10 years. The contract should be signed in April and all the formalities should be settled by December 2021.

In August, 15 km of the A2 was opened between the Lubelska junction and the Mińsk Mazowiecki bypass. In the spring contracts were signed for motorway sections between Kałuszyn and Groszka as well as Gręzów Siedlce Zachód. These sections should be completed in the autumn of 2023. A tender is to be announced this year for the design of the final 32 km stretch of motorway between Biała Podlaska and Belarus.
