POLAND Varso Tower hits the heights

Office & mixed-use development
The main part of the construction work on the Varso Tower skyscraper in central Warsaw has been completed , with the building having now officially reached the highest roof level in Poland. Once the work on installing the spire is finished, at 310m it will be the tallest building in the European Union.

With the completion of the concreting work on the top ceiling of the tower, at 230m it has now surpassed neighbouring buildings – Złota 44 (192m) and the Palace of Culture and Science (188m) as well as Poland’s previous highest, Sky Tower (206m) in Wrocław – in terms of roof height.

Varso Tower was designed by UK studio Foster + Partners studio. Situated near Warsaw’s Central Station, it forms part of the Varso Place multifunctional development, which is being carried out by HB Reavis. The complex will comprise offices, a hotel, an innovation centre and a shopping and services arcade. Varso Tower will also feature two public viewing terraces on the 49th and 53rd floors, and just below them a restaurant and a bar overlooking the city. Two walls of the lobby will be covered with a hand-made mosaic made out of 1,800 ceramic tiles depicting the history of the city.

The building is to be BREEAM ‘Outstanding’ certified (the highest rating) and has also obtained Well Core & Shell pre-certification.
