HUNGARY Etele Plaza ready for tenants

Retail & leisure
An occupancy permit has been issued for the Etele Plaza shopping centre in Budapest’s XI district.

The 55,000 sqm mall on the Buda side of the capital city is being developed by Futureal in an investment of EUR 300 mln. With the issuing of the permit, tenants can now start setting up their stores in the centre, which is scheduled to open in September, after a six-month delay due to the pandemic.

It will feature brands of Spanish fashion group Inditex including a Zara store with a brand new design concept, as well as Peek & Cloppenburg’s first store on the Buda side of the river. In total, it will contain 180 shops, a supermarket, restaurants, cafés, a multiplex cinema, a gym, a children’s play centre and a range of other services. The food court will be directly connected to green roof terraces. There will also be almost 1,300 parking spaces. An advanced location and navigation system will facilitate the parking in the building by indicating empty spaces.

The wide range of stores and services, the unique digital and architectural solutions create an exceptional customer experience that is in great demand from the players of the domestic retail sector as well. The contracted tenants are about to occupy the almost fully completed building, and we are also close to agreement with a number of exciting partners in order to further expand the already huge portfolio of the shopping centre.
Tibor Tatár, the CEO of Futureal

Etele Plaza, which has already obtained BREEAM ‘Very Good’ certification during the planning phase, has been designed by Paulinyi & Partners, while Dyer Group is responsible for the interior design.
