ROMANIA Scallier opens its first Romanian retail park

Retail & leisure
Polish developer Scallier has opened its first retail park in Romania – in Roșiorii de Vede, about 120 km west of Bucharest.

The 6,200 sqm gla Funshop Park Roșiorii de Vede, which has been BREEAM certified, is 100 pct leased to such tenants as Martes, Sinsay, KiK, Jysk, Pepco and Flanco as well as to F&B outlets Vibe and City Doner.

The Romanian market is currently highly polarised. Most of the modern retail space is concentrated in the capital and some other major cities. Residents of smaller towns often have to travel for several hours in pursuit of well-known fashion brands. This means not only a waste of time and money, but also disruption of the day. The problem has been noticed by retail chains, which have been turning to us when looking for space in non-central Romanian locations. The retail park in Roșiorii de Vede is a prime example of this. We leased the available space a few months before the project was put into operation. This trend is confirmed by our other developments, where we have already leased space or are in advanced negotiations for space. We are planning the next opening in November, in Focșani, and we expect that on the day of the opening the occupancy rate for this retail park will also reach 100 pct.
Adrian Aleman, the development director of Scallier Romania

Funshop Park Focșani (5,000 sqm gla), which is 90 pct pre-leased, is scheduled to open in mid-November. The other park Scallier has under development is due to open in Timişoara in Q1 2022.
