Germany MLP to build in Gelsenkirchen

Warehouse & industrial
MLP has purchased an 11 ha brownfield industrial site in Gelsenkirchen and is to develop Business Park Schalke comprising 55,000 sqm of warehouse space.

The project is to be completed by mid-2024. The site was formerly the location of a Thyssen wire factory. Eight buildings are to be built ranging in size from 1,000 sqm to 10,000 sqm. MLP Group is to invest over EUR 40 mln in the project and expects the development plan to be ready by mid-2023. Construction work should start in the second half of 2023. The demolition of the existing buildings is expected to begin before the end of the year. MLP Business Park Schalke is expected to launch operations in mid-2024.

With the acquisition of the land by MLP Group and with the proposed project, the city of Gelsenkirchen is not only gaining an important business partner but also securing an opportunity for robust, sustainable development on a site that has been virtually unused for a long time. This is very good news for Gelsenkirchen and particularly for the Schalke-Nord district
Gelsenkirchen mayor Karin Welge
