Latvia Jysk builds Baltic logistics centre with VGP

Homeware retailer Jysk and developer VGP have broken ground on a future logistics centre in Riga, which is to service Jysk’s stores throughout the Baltic states and Belarus.

On completion, the centre will comprise 42,000 sqm of floor space. The project is to be completed at the end of 2022 and is to be certified under BREEAM for a rating of ‘Very Good’.

Poland’s industrial and logistics market entered the second half of 2026 with demand rising and available space continuing to shrink. According to Cushman & Wakefield’s latest MarketBeat report, the vacancy rate fell to 6.6 pct in the second quarter, its lowest level since 2023. Tenants remained active in signing new leases during the first half of the year, while developers continued to take a cautious approach. The value of investment transactions in the logistics sector was also 13 pct higher than a year earlier.

Poland’s Logistics Investment Market Posts Strong First Half

Poland’s industrial and logistics investment market recorded EUR 782 mln in transactions in the first half of the year, across 18 deals. This was 36 pct above the five-year average and the sector’s third-highest first-half investment volume on record, after 2020 and 2021. The strong showing was driven by more than a return of large deals, however. Investors are increasingly prioritising long-term, predictable income, while sale-and-leaseback transactions are becoming an increasingly important way of bringing assets to market.
