Poland Prologis builds for giants
Warehouse & industrialA symbolic groundbreaking ceremony was held in Łódź to mark the start of construction of a modern warehouse for DP World, a logistics giant that specialises in serving the automotive and technology industries. The facility, developed by Prologis in the BTS formula, will serve as a modern distribution centre for the Dell Technologies factory in Łódź. It will provide comprehensive logistics services to 25 European countries, including Poland, Germany, Turkey, Sweden, Denmark and the Baltic States.
The building is scheduled for completion in H2 2025.
The investment in the form of a state-of-the-art distribution centre for our factory and the entire supply chain is another step that will enable us to deliver solutions to our customers in Poland and Europe even more efficiently.
Wiesław Gorzelak, vice president of operations EMEA, Dell Technologies
The facility will be equipped with a number of modern pro-environmental solutions, including energy-efficient LED lighting, a remote utility reading system and air destratifiers to reduce heat loss. The building's design includes the installation of skylights to provide natural light in the warehouse, above-standard thermal insulation throughout the facility and increased roof load capacity for a photovoltaic installation. The building will be connected to the district heating system and will be powered by biomass energy. The office area next to the warehouse will be equipped with a grey water recovery system. In addition, eight electric car charging points will be installed on the site.
The common goal and vision that we have developed together with our partners will result in an exceptional facility as soon as next year. Thanks to the commitment of the general contractor, who has pledged to reduce CO2 emissions, the warehouse will not only meet the expectations and needs of our partners from an operational point of view, but will also be a model example of sustainable construction.
Kamila Pruk-Piotrowska, director of capital deployment at Prologis
The warehouse will be subject to BREEAM certification. Prologis' goal is to achieve at least the Excellent level. Bremer is the general contractor for the investment.
The new state-of-the-art distribution centre at Prologis Park Łódź will not only meet the specific needs of an industry-leading partner such as Dell Technologies, but will also set an example for the logistics industry in terms of energy efficiency and sustainability.
Alina Dudek, DP World contract logistics director in Poland
Prologis Park Łódź is located 7 km west of Łódź city centre, 3 km from the A1 motorway and 10 km from the Stryków junction.
The warehouse for DP World is proof that the American side wants to stay with us for the next years and continue investing here. From my side, I can declare that we, as a city, will provide all parties to this investment with the best possible conditions for further activities.
Adam Pustelnik, First Deputy Mayor of Łódź
