An anonymous source has informed Eurobuild that if built, the project would be the world’s longest railway tunnel at around 200 km and would cement the relationship between Poland and Denmark creating a new axis of economic power in Europe. Initial cost estimates come to around EUR 9 bln with much of the cost to be defrayed by EU subsidies. Feasibility studies have yet to be undertaken. The new tunnel could open as soon as 2050.
