Budus withdraws from PLN 53 mln contract

POLAND Katowickie Przedsiębiorstwo Budownictwa Przemysłowego Budus will not now be building apartments in the Apartamenty Wielicka project on ul. Wielicka in Kraków. The investor behind the project is Warsaw-based company WAN.

Budus as the general contractor was supposed to build a complex of residential and service buildings, underground car parks and external infrastructure. The contract was worth PLN 53.2 mln. The reason for terminating the contract was Budus’ failure to obtain a guarantee for payment for the construction work. The completion of work had been planned for mid-2013.

The centre was developed on a speculative basis and was fully prepared for immediate occupancy. Poland Domestic investment grows stronger

In the third quarter of this year, EUR 0.8 bln was invested in Polish commercial real estate, of which over EUR 324 mln came from domestic investors, setting a new record high. Colliers also expects higher investment activity in 2026. Total investment volume in Poland since the beginning of the year totals EUR 2.6 bln, with Polish capital taking a  23 pct share. Taking into account ongoing transactions, Colliers predicts this to increase to EUR 4.5 bln by the end of the year.

Forecasts indicate that by 2030, data centre capacity in Poland could exceed 500 MW, and by 2034, reach as much as 1.2 GW.
