The 14th Golf Tournament and the 10th Tennis Tournament: awards ceremony at Boathouse Restaurant

Tennis balls pinging and golf clubs swinging and... flamboyant Brazilian rhythms – this is how real estate professionals spent June 19th, the day of Eurobuild CEE’s twin summer showpieces: the 14th Golf Tournament and the 10th Tennis Tournament.

The two annual sports events have become a fixture in the summer event calendar of the Polish real estate world. Every year stronger and stronger competitors take part. And there was no shortage of sun and sunny moods to match it on the greens of the Golf & Country Club in Rajszew near Warsaw. The contestants of the tournament included experienced golfers, as well as those who had recently taken up the sport. Among them were players who had lost sleep over their preparations for the competition over the preceding few weeks, as well as those who simply treated the tournament as an opportunity to refresh their technique. During the breakfast that was laid on they exchanged their last few remarks on the qualities of the golf course in Rajszew and then it was time for the teams to be drawn and the play to start (in the so-called ‘shot gun’ style) with a brisk march out to the twelve positions alongside the lakes and ponds of the course.

Beginner classes for newcomers to the sport took place at the same time as the main Eurobuild CEE Golf Tournament in the Golf Academy. One of the golfers taking part in the tournament revealed to us that his love for the sport began in these very classes a few years before. At the end of the classes, graduates of the Academy also entered the Longest Drive and the Nearest to the Pin contests, of which Rafał Ostrowski of ‘Eurobuild CEE’ and Dariusz Wypyski of Xplan respectively turned out to be the clear winners.

At the same time over 30 players, also in a very good mood, fought it out on the tennis courts of the DeSki club in Cypel Czerniakowski from the morning until the late afternoon. However, the sporting rivalry did not end there. As dusk approached, it was time for the gala to begin in the Boathouse restaurant in Warsaw, during which the winners of both competitions were announced. Triumphing in the Strokeplay category in the golf tournament was Włodzimierz Stańczak, while Sławomir Piński won the Longest Drive category. Meanwhile, the first place in the Individual Strokeplay Netto (HCP 0-18) category went to Michał Mierzwa of Colliers International, with the runner-up being Włodzimierz Soporek, while James Nam came in third. Tom Leach was the winner in the Stableford Netto (HCP 18,1-36) category. Małgorzata Rudnicka came second and Waldemar Kozak finished in third place. Bartosz Prytuła of AIG/Lincoln reigned supreme in the men’s tennis category. Szymon Stankiewicz (a guest of Mbank) won the silver, while two bronze medals went to Rafał Twardowski and Wojciech Jurek (Mikomax Warsaw). Zuzanna Wróblewska of JLL won the women’s gold, Małgorzata Frąckiewicz of Cushman & Wakefield took silver, while Monika Żywiecka of Griffin was third in the ranking. Even though the congratulations and photos of the winners brandishing the trophies seemed never-ending, there was also some time in the course of the evening to have heated debates about the referees’ decisions, rival players’ training methods as well as conversations completely unrelated to sport. After a day of yet more sporting feats added to the annals of Eurobuild CEE tournaments, the players deserved to wind down to the sounds of the samba, which they did until late into the night.
