Kraków authority agrees plans
Kraków city authorities have voted to accept the first phase of its new
development plans. The priorities are seen as a university campus and sites for
retail and leisure projects.
The deputies accepted plans for the construction of retail centres,
entertainment and sports' facilities and a hotel in the Czyżyny and Dąbie
districts. The vicinity of the international airport in Balice has been chosen
as the location for fair and exhibition facilities.
Second H&M
Hennes & Mauritz, the Swedish chain of fashion boutiques is to open a second
shop in Warsaw with 1,850 sqm in the extended Reduta retail centre. The first
store opened a few weeks ago in the Wola Park retail centre.
Work on the Reduta extension will begin shortly and it will consist of a total
of 15,000 sqm.
Factory Outlet Polish style
A supermarket to be called the Factory Outlet Centre will open in Poznań this
August or September, according to the daily newspaper 'Puls Biznesu'. The shop
will be a part of a retail chain set up by the Polish company Semax Interdtrade
(SI).
The 2,500 sqm shop in Poznań will be located in converted warehouse property
which will cost PLN 1 mln to refurbish. With seven stores currently operating,
Semax Intertrade plans to develop a chain of 50 outlets in the next 3-4 years.
Galeria Pomorska launched
The Bydgoszcz undertaking by TK Development and Dutch company, Ahold Real Estate
Europe has been finalized. On 9th April Galeria Pomorska, a retail and leisure
centre on ul. Fordonska, was launched.
The total space of the centre amounts to 36,000 sqm, of which 16,500 sqm is
devoted to retail (90 shops), 6,500 sqm to the Hypernova hypermarket, 1,400 sqm
to catering areas and 2,600 sqm to a leisure section ('XL bowling').
The total investment came to EUR 50 mln and the general contractor was Polnord
from Gdańsk.
Three hypermarkets for PLN 160 mln
E.Leclerc will spend another PLN 160 mln on three hypermarkets in Poland this year. Their stores in Lublin with 5,800 sqm and Bełchatów with 2,100 sqm, were launched in April, which increased the number of E. Leclerc's stores in Poland to 11.
Fitness club for Wola Park
The Wola Park retail centre in Warsaw has succeeded in recruiting a fitness
operator which will occupy 800 sqm. The Reebok Calypso club will open there on
July 1st this year, after having signed a contract for a ten-year lease. This
will be the second such club in the city, the first of which has been running
since 2000 in the Europlex centre, on ul. Puławska, with 600 sqm. The new club
will contain a sauna and squash courts, as well as a gym.
