300: This is Eurobuild!

Interview 300
Welcome to this very special 300th anniversary edition of ‘EurobuildCEE’! And what a long way we’ve all come in the last 25 years or so since the very first issue of our magazine. Just like the astonishing progress of the Polish and CEE real estate market since then – which we’ve covered all the way – we have gone from humble beginnings, through various ups-and-downs and a dramatically changing landscape, to where we are today.

Our present team can be seen on pages 42-43, posing in the courtyard of another new symbol of how the city has developed – The Form office building, close to the Towarowa 22 city-forming development. Some of us (myself included) have been with the company longer than others, but hopefully we look much the same as we did back in those early days. ;)

Who could have imagined back at the turn of the millennium that the sector would grow from almost scratch to become the world-beater that it is today? Well, there were a few back then who did, many of whom are featured in this bumper issue. They were the pioneering spirits who, through ingenuity and never-ceasing hard work, got the market off the ground and built it brick by brick into one of the premier destinations for global capital. They have also contributed their expert opinion and analysis down the years to our publication, and so, they are best placed to summarise how we have got to where we are now, which they do in the series of retrospective articles and interviews on these pages. In addition to more analytic articles about the development of the Polish and CEE real estate markets featuring some of these key players, this issue also includes interviews with almost 30 others – all familiar faces to those who have worked in this market over the last few decades. And since our sector just seems to keep going from strength to strength, in another article we also ask some of them for their forecasts for the future. If they were visionaries back in 2000, then they should certainly be listened to now!

Another symbol of how far we’ve come is the Central Communications Port (CPK) – the biggest infrastructural project in Europe. All the issues related to real estate (and beyond) stemming from this project were covered in depth at our June conference in Łódź. You can find a detailed report of this event in the English section of the magazine.

And so, we would like to celebrate this special moment with all the key players in recognition of all their efforts and those of the teams they’ve led in creating the very market that we continue to cover and serve. Thank you to all of them – and may we still be working together to take the local real estate scene to even dizzier heights when we publish our 600th issue!
