Facelift for Sofitel Warsaw Victoria

POLAND The first stage of the refurbishment of the Sofitel Warsaw Victoria hotel, which is owned by the Orbis hotel group, has been completed.

The company has earmarked PLN 100 mln for the modernisation of its facilities in 2013–2014, PLN 35 mln of which is to go towards the refurbishment of the Victoria. In the Warsaw hotel the restaurants, the bar, the lobby and some of the rooms have been renovated. The modernisation of conference halls and the drive is planned for next year. The management of the hotel has also announced a refacing of the façade of the building and a change to the entrance of the hotel, which was built in 1976. The transformation of the hotel has been carried out according to a design by the French designer Didier Gomez.

Hotel transactions boom

The Czech hotel market is building on an exceptionally strong year in 2025, marked by a significant increase in transaction volumes and investor interest. According to Cushman & Wakefield, a total of 16 hotels were sold in the Czech Republic, representing 2,989 rooms and a total transaction volume of EUR 764 mln. Based on available data, this represents the highest annual transaction volume ever recorded on the Czech hotel market.

 Occupancy rates increased by around 4 pct in the first six months of the year compared to the same period of 2024, according to a report by Cushman & Wakefield Echinox with the figures based on the STR data.
