Dream Island opens in Moscow

RUSSIA On Februrary 29th the 100 ha Dream Island theme park developed by Regions Developments is to open in central Moscow.

Eventually the centre is expected to attract up to 6 mln people a year and will comprise a 300,000 sqm, ‘wonderland’-themed shopping centre and an amusement park, which at 80,000 sqm is the world's largest indoor theme park,. The project also includes a 44 ha landscape park with outdoor leisure facilities, a 4-star hote with 410 roomsl, a concert hall, a children's yacht school and numerous cafes bars and restaurants. The first stage includes the theme park, the shopping centre, a multiplex cinema, landscaped park and city promenade opens. The concept design for the park was by Chapman Taylor.

“The architectural concept for the complex followed the client’s desire for a “wonderland” effect, rather than modern architecture – we drew on traditional Russian fairy tales and architectural styles mixed with western gothic styles to create a unique visual identity for the development,” says Ramchandra Khatiwada, the director for Moscow at Chapman Taylor.
