Romania Hotels bounce back in Bucharest

The Bucharest hotel market has the highest growth among CEE capitals in terms of revenue per available room (RevPAR), according to the Hotel Operator Beat H2 2021 report by Cushman & Wakefield.

The report is based on a survey, conducted in Q4 2021 among senior executives from over 30 operators that are either already in the CEE region or have plans to enter. Together they operate over 730 hotels with over 121,000 rooms as well as an additional 590 proposed hotels comprising over 50,000 rooms that are currently planned. Prague, Warsaw, Budapest and Bucharest are among the top-ranking cities of interest, out of a total of 20. Bucharest was considered a high or very highly attractive market for 58 pct of the surveyed operators and many operators who had left expressed interest in re-entering the city. Over 2021, Bucharest had an average occupancy of 32.1 pct, a rise of 77.7 pct on the previous year. Bucharest`s RevPAR increased by 67.3 pct in 2021 compared to 2020, which was the highest growth in RevPAR among all the CEE capitals. Overall, the Bucharest hotel market reached a RevPAR of EUR 20.5, which was the third-highest among the CEE capitals.

Peakside Capital has signed a lease agreement with courier company DPD Polska for 7,000 sqm of cross-dock space at the City Point Targówek park in Warsaw. The complex is currently being completely redeveloped. It will ultimately provide nearly 100,000 sqm of commercial space. DPD Polska will move into the completed facility later this year.

The value of MLP group’s investment properties rose 31 pct, to more than PLN 4.4 bln (EUR 945 mln). Consolidated revenue improved 39 pct y-o-y, to PLN 279.1 mln (EUR 59.5 mln), driven by an increase in leased area combined with higher rental rates. Last year, MLP group earned PLN 422.4 mln (EUR 90.1 mln) in net profit.

Shed for students near the Wawel
