Every year, champions of stair running from all over the world run up to the 37th floor of the Rondo 1 skyscraper. The first edition of the event took place in 2011. The event has been held twice under the auspices of the Towerrunning World Association as the European Championship.
One of the two favourites of this year's competition will undoubtedly be the Malaysian Wai Ching Soh. The current world champion has dominated the towerrunning scene in recent years and also won the Rondo 1 Run Up last year with a clear lead. However, the last few months have belonged to his main rival, Ryojie Watanabe from Japan, who is currently leading the Towerrunning World Association ranking and has beaten Soh in several prestigious races.
I won a year ago, but I wasn't completely satisfied. The goal is still to beat the route record, which has been held by Piotr Łobodziński in Rondo 1 for years. 3 minutes and 27 seconds is a fantastic result, I still believe I can run even faster.

Valentina Belotti will be the favourite in the women's competition. The Italian triumphed in Rondo 1 last season and won her first towerrunning world championship title shortly afterwards. She is also the current leader of the ranking. The Italian's most dangerous rivals are currently Yuko Tateishi from Japan and Klaudia Krajewska from Poland. Both competitors will be seen on 12 April at Rondo 1.
Both athletes and amateurs will take part in the 13th Rondo 1 Run Up. The starting list for the Warsaw event is already full, and the event will traditionally have not only a sporting aspect, but also a charitable one. The funds collected from the entry fees will go to the children of the SOS Children's Village in Kraśnik.
The host of the competition is the Rondo 1 office building, and the partner is the Zdrofit fitness club chain. We are pleased to be one of the media patrons of the event.
The 40-storey Warsaw skyscraper Rondo 1 was commissioned in 2006. The building is located in the centre of the capital's business district, at the Rondo ONZ. Rondo 1 offers a total of 66,000 sqm of leasable space and almost 500 parking spaces. As the first high-rise building in Europe, the complex received the LEED Gold environmental certificate in the ‘Existing Buildings’ category. In 2016, the building received the highest rating in the LEED system: Platinum.
