ROMANIA The Hotel Cişmigiu in Bucharest has reopened after a EUR 15 mln renovation by Spanish developer Hercesa, report local media.

Work on the historic hotel, which has now been converted into an apart-hotel offering 60 suites as well as offices, began in 2007. Hercesa is currently looking at five other historic buildings with the potential for renovation.

SOHO by Yareal now includes a Maxi Zoo pet store, the Alike Pottery Studio, and the Unroasted coffee store. Under the new agreements, Yareal has leased nearly 500 sqm on the ground floors of the buildings.

Budimex has been awarded a PLN 146 mln contract to construct the foundations of the passenger terminal of the new airport that forms part of the massive Port of Poland (or CPK) transport hub, which is being developed between Warsaw and Łódź.

Panattoni, together with Eika Asset Management, an investment management company, have begun the development of Panattoni Park Kraków West IV. The centre, comprising over 46,000 sqm, will be built in Skawina, within the Kraków metropolitan area. The first tenant, a retailer of wooden panelling, will occupy nearly 17,000 sqm.

CEE Region Rents rising with limited supply

Warsaw ranks as the fourth least affordable capital for a single person, with essential monthly expenses, including housing, food, transport, personal care and leisure, totalling EUR 1,836. With the average net salary standing at EUR 1,911, these costs absorb 96.1 pct of typical earnings, leaving residents with just EUR 74 per month. Only Lisbon, Tirana, and Athens offer worse affordability among the 37 capital cities surveyed by Tradingpedia.

Hotel transactions boom

The Czech hotel market is building on an exceptionally strong year in 2025, marked by a significant increase in transaction volumes and investor interest. According to Cushman & Wakefield, a total of 16 hotels were sold in the Czech Republic, representing 2,989 rooms and a total transaction volume of EUR 764 mln. Based on available data, this represents the highest annual transaction volume ever recorded on the Czech hotel market.

Romanian hotels grow

 Occupancy rates increased by around 4 pct in the first six months of the year compared to the same period of 2024, according to a report by Cushman & Wakefield Echinox with the figures based on the STR data.
