POLAND David Mitzner, the founder and chairman of Apollo-Rida Poland, has died, aged 101.
Born in Warsaw, David Mitzner, now a legend of the Polish real estate scene, managed to avoid the fate of many other Polish Jews who perished in the Holocaust, but was arrested by the Soviets and spent eight years in the Siberian Gulag. After his release, he escaped communist Poland and emigrated to the United States, where he founded Rida Development, a real estate company specialising in hotel and mixed-use developments.
