Starwood keeps growing in CEE
CEE REGION In 2014, the US hotel giant Starwood, which operates such chains as Westin, Sheraton, Le Meridien, St. Regis, Aloft and W, has opened 74 new hotels worldwide which translated into app. 15,000 rooms in 26 countries. The company now aims to keep up with the pace of openings by adding, among others, new CEE locations to its portfolio.
Conflict dragging Moscow hotel market down
RUSSIA The current military and political conflict in the region has led to the deterioration of the Moscow hotel market and falling property values.
Orbis extends franchise chain
POLAND The Orbis hotel group has signed a franchise contract with the Four Hotel company for a hotel that is being developed on ul. Pszenna in Gdańsk.

Swissôtel expands in SEE
BULGARIA Swissôtel Hotels & Resorts, a hotel group owned by the Toronto-based and Gulf-financed FRHI Hotels & Resorts (FRHI), will manage Swissôtel Sofia, a condo hotel tower that is currently being developed by Turkish developer Garanti Koza in Bulgaria’s capital city.

First Alto hotel almost ready
POLAND The first Alto hotel is set to open at the beginning of 2015 in Żory. The Alto brand, operated and owned by the Polish hotel chain Qubus, was created to serve minor Polish markets.

POLAND The second stage of the 69-apartment Sun & Snow Resorts complex has opened in Szklarska Poręba. Located at ul. Górna 19, the three-stage project provides 140 apartments with floor plans ranging from 30 to 100 sqm.
