Brico Dépôt expands to Romania

ROMANIA Kingfisher has acquired 15 ‘Bricostore DIY stores in Romania from Group Bresson, for an undisclosed sum.

The outlets are to be rebranded as Brico Dépôt stores. The deal is to be finalised within the next two months. The total sales area of Kingfisher is to increase by 2 pct, with the number of stores owned by the group to increase to 1,050 in nine countries in Europe and Asia. Bricostore is the third largest DIY retailer in Romania, after Dedeman and Praktiker, which have 25 stores each. The chain recorded sales of EUR 131 mln last year with an EBITDA of EUR 5 mln.

The agreement covers the extension of the tenant's existing lease and an expansion by an additional 14,846 sqm, giving a total of 27,300 sqm at Panattoni Park Zielona Góra II. As a result, the park is now fully commercialised.
