Galeria Pomorska opens doors after extension

Retail & leisure
POLAND Resolution Property has opened the extended Galeria Pomorska in Bydgoszcz.

The property’s newly-added retail area amounts to 10,000 sqm and houses 40 tenants. They include Bershka, Stradivarius, Ecco, Medicine, Home&You, House, Sinsay, Coccodrillo, Medicine, Diverse, Bytom, Toys Box, English Home, Szachownica, Pepco, Pawo, Change Lingerie and Briju. The cutting of the ribbon in front of the new section was attended by representatives of the mall’s owner, manager and subcontractors, as well as tenants and local authorities Iwona Waszkiewicz, deputy mayor of Bydgoszcz. The extension of Galeria Pomorska has been the largest Resolution Property Polish project so far. “Galeria Pomorska was the first retail property in Poland that we got involved into. We had a revitalization plan and an extension project when we were getting prepared to purchase the mall. At the time Galeria Pomorska was the so-called ‘second generation shopping centre’. We had to considerably extend its retail offer. We are now proud of the final result. We hope that thanks to our efforts Galeria Pomorska will serve its customers for many years to come,” said Shane Scott, a partner in Resolution Property. “For us, the centre’s co-owner and at the same time its key grocery operator, the extension was an extremely important project, in which we were involved in from the very beginning. The final result of the work carried out by Resolution Property and subcontractors is impressive. The modernization of our hypermarket was completed together with the completion of the shopping centre’s extension. Galeria Pomorska is now the most modern property of its kind in Bydgoszcz, not only in terms of innovative retail solutions applied but also advanced energy efficiency technologies,” said Cezary Starzyk, the head of asset management at Carrefour Property. The modernization work on Galeria Pomorska started in 2011 with the extension of the mall’s food court, followed by the opening of a Helios cinema on the building’s first floor in 2012. The actual extension of the shopping centre started in mid-2013. Now Galeria Pomorska offers 40,000 sqm of space which houses app. 140 stores. Its asset manager is Balmain Asset Management and its manager is Savills. JLL and Balmain Asset Management were jointly responsible for the commercialization of the newly-opened section of the mall. The extension’s general contractor was Budimex, while CPM was responsible for providing project supervision and Geokop for tenant coordination. The extension’s architectural concept is the work of Colman Architects of London and Atelier.com of Warsaw.
