Sun Plaza extended and still growing

ROMANIA the Sun Plaza shopping centre in Bucharest has been extended with over 25 new stores in what is the largest development project ever undertaken by Austrian investor S Immo.
With the extension, Lego and Forever 21 have both opened their largest stores in the country, while NYX, Pandora and MAC have also opened renovated stores. “High-quality properties are an important cornerstone of our success. By renovating our shopping centre, we can increase the value of the property and our portfolio on a lasting basis and secure income over the long term,” said Friedrich Wachernig, a member of S Immo’s management board. The results of the CBRE European Retail Occupier Survey 2024 suggest the retail sector and regional economy overall approach the end of a challenging period. The study includes responses from over 60 global retailers with a store network of over 130,000 locations, and shows that 71 pct of retailers planning to increase their number of physical stores intend to do so in markets where they are already present.
