Shopping without cashiers

POLAND Minimarket grocery chain Żabka is testing a new mobile app for customers. One of its functions will be ‘grab & go’ purchases: paying for goods without queuing at the cash desk.
This is one of a number of systems being tested as part of the chain’s ‘Friends & Family’ programme.
“It will be available for our customers early this year. The development of mobile systems gives us open access to services that bring together the digital world and our physical stores. This is part the wider transformation of the Żabka chain we are witnessing,” the company has told us.
