Building Smart comes to Poland

Technology
POLAND The Building Smart Polska association, which was legally registered in February, has signed an agreement under which it has officially become an affiliate of Building Smart International.

Building Smart is an international non-profit organisation which aims to improve the exchange of information between software applications used in the construction industry. It has developed Industry Foundation Classes (IFCs) as a neutral and open specification for BIM.

“The launch of the Polish branch of the Building Smart International organisation is the culmination of all our hard work since April 2017. Over this period, we have focused our efforts on promoting the idea of open and neutral BIM standards. The association is an open platform, which means that anyone with an interest in digitisation in the construction industry is welcome to contribute from designers and contractors to IT suppliers and producers of building materials,” says Juliusz Żach, the president of the Smart Building Polska. Members of the Polish association currently include BIM Point, Electra M&E Poland, Hochtief Polska, Mostostal Warszawa, Mota-Engil Central Europe, Norgips, Isover, Rigips, Vectorworks, Warbud and Xella.

BIM (Building Information Modelling) is a system of designing buildings by creating detailed models in virtual reality, which allows most problems to be identified and resolved before construction work ever begins.
