More departures from Gdańsk

Infrastructure
POLAND Gdańsk Lech Walesa Airport has appointed Korporacja Budowlana Doraco to extend passenger terminal T2 in a contract worth over PLN 255 mln net.

A new pier is to be built at a cost of more than PLN 255 mln net which is mainly to serve departures to non-Schengen countries. The security and passport control zone will also be expanded, as well as the baggage claim area. Two new bus loading areas and four external staircases were also designed to give passenger access to the aircraft. “After building the pier, our port will increase in size by almost 16,000 sqm, so passengers will be able to travel in even more comfort,” insists Tomasz Kloskowski, the CEO of Gdańsk Lech Walesa Airport. “Gdańsk and its airport are developing and we at Doraco are also developing along with it. When we started construction of T1 terminal in 1996, we were a small Gdańsk-based company that was embarking on its first large project as part of a consortium for the airport. Now we are starting work on the expansion of the T2 terminal as the general contractor and Gdańsk Airport is the third biggest airport in Poland terms of the passenger numbers and is among the five best airports in the world,” [AirHelp Global Airport Ranking 2019] adds Karol Zduńczyk, the CEO of Doraco. The project will be financed through a bond issue by the airport organised by Pekao bank and from its own cash resources. The work is to take 26 months and should be completed in Q3 2021.
