Nine new Hiltons in Poland

Hotels
POLAND/CEE REGION Hilton Worldwide has announced the opening of nine new hotels in various cities across Poland as well as a few projects around the region, including in Russia and Belarus.

The chain is also considering expanding in the Balkans. Dianna Vaughan, the vice-president and global director of the DoubleTree by Hilton and Curio brands told ‘Eurobuild CEE’ that the chain could “see an enormous potential in Central and Eastern Europe,” and she added that, “we will find here markets which have already reached the stage of maturity, but they are still developing very fast, being far from becoming saturated, with Poland as a good example. On the other hand, there are completely new markets in the region, e.g. Serbia or Uzbekistan, and they are open to investment.”

“We plan to open DoubleTree by Hilton Minsk, and we're planning to open another hotel to operate under the brand by the Vnukovo airport in Moscow. [...] There are 169 new DoubleTree by Hilton’s in the pipeline across the world,” said Jochem-Jan Sleiffer, vice-president responsible for Northern, Central and Eastern Europe region at Hilton Worldwide. “We continually monitor for development opportunities of growth around the world, however, we continue to develop our company’s presence in its existing markets. We plan to enter new regions of Russia, as well as launching new brands on the markets in which we're already operating,” he added and went on to state that, “First and foremost, we're going to carry on with the growth of four brands: Hampton by Hilton, Hilton Garden Inn, DoubleTree by Hilton and Hilton Hotels & Resorts. As far as these brands go, the region still offers big opportunities, also in smaller cities. Nonetheless, in the biggest and most important metropolises, such as Warsaw, we also see room for our luxury brands, such as Conrad and Waldorf Astoria, however, nothing is confirmed,” added vice-president of the region. The company’s latest project – the DoubleTree by Hilton hotel in Ovo Wrocław – is the first hotel of the brand in Lower Silesia, the fourth in Poland and the 73rd in Europe. In his interview for ‘Eurobuild CEE’ Matthias Herd, the general director of DoubleTree by Hilton Wrocław could not disclose when the hotel would breakeven but he explained that it has maintained a very high occupancy rate since its opening on August 10th. Hilton Worldwide already has fourteen hotels of various brands in Poland including its hotel in Wrocław and the company has recently opened its Hilton Tallinn Park. The Hilton Worldwide chain currently has 466 DoubleTree by Hilton hotels across the world in its portfolio.
