Poland Green is the standard

The Warsaw Green Building Standard is a set of guidelines developed for urban buildings in the capital. Thanks to their implementation, buildings will be more environmentally friendly and cheaper to maintain. The reuse of rainwater in the building's installations, the use of RES or environmentally friendly internal and external lighting are some of the proposed solutions that will reduce energy consumption costs.

In Warsaw, the largest source of greenhouse gas emissions is the production of heat and electricity used for buildings. Therefore, a priority of the city's climate policy are efforts to increase energy efficiency. The green standard will only apply to new investments carried out by the city. The Warsaw authorities also hope that the solutions proposed in the document will influence the way investments are designed and implemented in the private sector. The Warsaw Green Building Standard will suggest to investors already at the design stage which pro-environmental solutions are worth applying.

Implementation of the document is one of the recommendations of the Warsaw Climate Panel. The issues in the standard have been divided into six areas: greenery and plot development; water management; energy efficiency; sustainable mobility; elements of a closed loop economy; building materials and solutions; health, comfort, safety.
