Ailleron takes to the Podium
POLAND IT company Ailleron, which is involved in fintech and telecommunications, has signed one of Kraków’s biggest leases of 2019 and is to take up 8,600 sqm of office space in building B of Podium Park.

New Format for Gdańsk
POLAND Construction work on a new office building is starting on ul. Droszyńskiego in Gdańsk. The Format building will have five above-ground floors and more than 15,700 sqm of leasable space. The completion of the construction work has been scheduled for Q2 2021.

Roark Studio wins Sopot project
POLAND NDI Development has chosen the Sopot-based Roark Studio to design a residential building on ul. Jagiellońska in Gdańsk.
Apartment Plus adds more in Wrocław
POLAND PFR Nieruchomości, the company that runs the governmental Mieszkanie Plus [Apartment Plus] scheme to provide homes for young families, has bought a 12.33 ha plot of land on ul. Odolanowska in Wrocław’s Zakrzów district from Polski Holding Nieruchomości. More than 1,000 apartments are to be built on the site under the scheme.

Uznam tunnel moves closer
POLAND A ZRID permit for the construction of a road tunnel to connect both sides of Świnoujście by linking the Polish mainland to the Uznam [Usedom] island is to be issued this year. This document should allow the work to begin in Q4 of this year.
Retail consumption grows across the EU
EUROPE Retail turnover is to increase by 2 pct in nominal terms in the 27 countries of the European Union this year, forecasts GFK. The largest increases are forecast in Romania and Lithuania.

Primark comes to Młociny
POLAND Primark has signed a lease to open a store in the Galeria Młociny mall, in Warsaw, which is jointly owned by EPP (with a 70 pct stake) and Echo Investment.
Weekday to debut in Kazimierz
POLAND Clothing store Weekday is to open its first Polish store in November in the Galeria Kazimierz mall in Kraków.

Metro opposes Czech-Slovak takeover bid
EUROPE German retail giant Metro AG has made the recommendation to its shareholders that they turn down a EUR 5.8 bln takeover bid by Czech-Slovak investor EP Global Commerce, insisting that the offer significantly undervalues the group.

PLN 40 mln subsidy for Masurian water-world
POLAND The Polish Agency for Enterprise Development [PARP] has announced that it has awarded a subsidy to two projects as part of the fourth ‘Product Chain Creation By Small and Medium Enterprises’ [Tworzenie Produktów Sieciowych Przez MŚP] competition for the Operational Programme Eastern Poland 2014–2020. One of the two winners is a real estate project: Wodny Świat, which is to be built in Giżycko and Gajewo.
Over 5 mln sqm in eight largest regional markets
POLAND At the end of H1 2019, the total modern office stock in the eight major regional markets (Kraków, Wrocław, the Tri-City, Górnośląsko-Zagłębiowska Metropolis, Poznań, Łódź, Lublin and Szczecin) came to 5,302,900 sqm according to the latest figures from the Polish Chamber of Commercial Real Estate.
