Fewer stores, higher turnover
POLAND In December 2017 the retail area of Redan reduced its fashion retail area for brands such as Top Secret, Troll and Drywash by 11 pct but its revenue for the month was up by 1 pct y-o-y to app. PLN 26 mln.
Benefit Systems without Calypso
POLAND Benefit Systems has informed the Office of Competition and Consumer Protection [UOKiK] that it will no longer attempt to takeover Calypso Fitness due to the concerns raised by the competition authority about a possible reduction in competition on the market for sports and recreational packages offered to employers.

POLAND In 2017 Dino Polska, opened 147 Dino grocery stores in 12 provinces. Its total sales area came to over 295,000 sqm at the end of 2017, representing a 23.8 pct increase y-o-y.

Iulius to expand Timişoara mall
ROMANIA Iulius has started the construction of 47,000 sqm of retail space in the Openville mixed-use project in Timişoara, which will include more than 100 new stores, themed restaurants and cafés, a cinema and a playground. Some of the current tenants of Iulius Mall Timişoara (71,000 sqm opened in 2005) are also to expand their stores.
