POLAND Skanska is to construct a new medical faculty for the Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński University in Warsaw (UKSW).

The Collegium Medicum UKSW building is to be built on the campus at ul. Wóycickiego 1/3. The work carried out by Skanska will include not only the construction of a thew facility, but also the demolition of an existing lecture hall, the installation of utilities and the purchase and delivery of all the necessary materials and equipment. Poznań studio GPVT Pracownia Architektoniczna is responsible for the design of the 3,816 sqm building, which will have three above-ground storeys and one unde

Euro Styl, part of Dom Development Group, has put 78 apartments on the market as part of the latest stage of the Konstelacja development on ul. Paderewskiego in Pogórze, near Gdynia. Around 73,000 sqm of office space was leased in Kraków in the first half of 2026, 52 pct less than in the same period last year. Leasing activity nevertheless picked up sharply in the second quarter, with take-up three times higher than in the first three months of the year.

Rohe completes first stage of Kozielska Park in Katowice

Rohe has completed the first stage of the Kozielska Park development in Katowice and has started handing over apartments to their new owners. The first building comprises 68 apartments ranging from 26 to 62 sqm, as well as four retail units. The developer is already preparing the next stage, with construction scheduled to start in Q3 2026.

Polska 7R starts construction of parcel sorting centre in Bydgoszcz

7R has started construction of a 9,700 sqm build-to-suit centre in Bydgoszcz. The new building at 7R Park Bydgoszcz I will house a parcel sorting centre for an undisclosed tenant specialising in logistics solutions for the e-commerce sector. The centre is due to be completed in Q1 2027.

Romania Romania’s new planning code could reshape real estate development

Romania’s new Territorial Planning, Urbanism and Construction Code (CATUC) changes how real estate projects are planned, approved and developed. For Dan Craciunescu, founder of West Group, which operates in both Romania and Germany, the new Code introduces principles that bring Romania closer to practices used in the German market and could provide a more predictable framework for urban planning.

Poland Warsaw developers increase supply as sales stall

Warsaw developers significantly increased the number of new apartments for sale in the second quarter of 2026, but sales fell. They brought 4,753 homes to market, up 66.8 pct from the previous quarter, while 3,840 apartments were sold, a 9.4 pct decline. The increase in supply pushed the number of apartments available for sale to 16,345 at the end of June, up 7.1 pct from three months earlier. Even so, quarterly sales remained 4.6 pct above the five-year average of 3,670 homes, according to data from CBRE and Tabelaofert.pl.

Global luxury brands are expanding more cautiously, choosing markets and locations more carefully rather than rapidly adding stores, according to Colliers’ EMEA Retailer Performance & Consumer Spending Trends report. Weaker consumer confidence, higher costs and a less certain economic outlook are making retailers pay closer attention to sales and profitability. Warsaw remains one of the markets attracting interest from luxury brands, including some that have yet to enter Poland.

Elanders Polska has taken nearly 5,600 sqm at Hillwood Wrocław East in Dobrzykowice, just outside Wrocław. The deal covers more than 5,000 sqm of warehouse space and around 600 sqm of offices. Only one 4,200 sqm unit remains available at the park.

Poland’s overall warehouse vacancy rate is around 7 pct, but large, well-located warehouse space is becoming much harder to find. Companies looking for more than 15,000 sqm are increasingly competing for the same buildings. According to SQM Advisory, the squeeze is no longer confined to the very largest warehouses; availability of mid-sized units is also tightening.

Poland Warehouse market picks up as tenants expand

Poland’s warehouse market picked up noticeably in the first half of 2026 after a year dominated by lease renegotiations. New leases and expansions made up 60 pct of tenant activity, while cautious development kept new supply in check. The vacancy rate fell from 7.1 pct at the end of March to 6.3 pct at the end of June, according to JLL.

Poland Wrocław office market sees weaker tenant activity in H1 2026

Tenant activity slowed in Wrocław in the first half of 2026. Two office projects were completed in the first quarter, leaving no buildings under construction. The vacancy rate also edged down. However, with around 295,000 sqm of space available for immediate occupation, it will take time for the market to rebalance, according to Newmark Polska’s 'Office Occupier – Wrocław Office Market' report.

Construction begins on emergency care unit at Prague’s Thomayer University Hospital

Construction has begun on a new emergency care unit at Thomayer University Hospital in Prague, officially launched by Prime Minister Andrej Babiš and Health Minister Adam Vojtěch. The CZK 2.2 billion project is one of the hospital’s largest investments and forms part of the Czech government’s strategic healthcare infrastructure programme.

Dekpol to redevelop the Poznań Palm House

The City of Poznań and Dekpol Budownictwo have signed a contract for the major redevelopment of the Poznań Palm House. The city’s landmark attraction will undergo an extensive upgrade to bring it up to modern technical standards and provide better conditions for its plants and animals. The contract was signed on 17 August, with Dekpol Budownictwo appointed as the general contractor.

Porr focusing on healthcare

Austrian construction group Porr has been rolling out its Porr Healthcare division across the markets it is active in, including Poland. The division specialises in the construction of healthcare facilities.

Budimex wins PLN 86 mln Białystok hospital contract

Budimex has been awarded an PLN 86 mln gross contract for the construction of a new specialist outpatient clinic at the L. Zamenhof University Children’s Clinical Hospital in Białystok [Uniwersytecki Dziecięcy Szpital Kliniczny im. Ludwika Zamenhofa w Białymstoku] in its latest contract for the institution.

Szczecin castle reconstruction completed

Mostostal Warszawa has completed the second stage of the reconstruction of the north wing of the Pomeranian Dukes’ Castle (Zamek Książąt Pomorskich) in Szczecin. The project also involved the comprehensive redevelopment of the castle’s north terrace and northern escarpment.

Dewin–Biberstein–Promnitz Castle to be restored

Agrobex Budowa has been appointed as the general contractor for the restoration of the Dewin–Biberstein–Promnitz Castle in Żary. The 13th-century landmark in western Poland's Lubusz region will be transformed into a new Centre for Culture and Tradition.

Budimex rebuilds Szczecin sports centre

Budimex has completed the reconstruction and expansion of the swimming pool and sports and entertainment hall of the Szczecin Sports Centre. The construction was completed on schedule, and the centre has already completed all the required technical inspections. The total investment came to PLN 109.45 mln gross.

Warszawa Wschodnia station to be modernised

Polish Railway Lines (PKP) has signed a contract with general contractor Torpol for the modernisation of Warszawa Wschodnia station (Warsaw East), worth over PLN 3.6 bln. Work will begin in December this year and will cover not only the station but also its immediate surroundings.

Gronów Elbląski station to be renovated

Polish State Railways (PKP) is to modernise the station in Gronów Elbląski. The design is ready, and the company has now announced a tender to select a general contractor with bids to be submitted by June 18th.

A new look for central Warsaw

The city of Warsaw has allocated PLN 5 million for the construction of al. Centralna, a green passageway between the Warsaw Śródmieście railway station and the Palace of Culture and Science. The promenade is to be repaved and will feature large green areas.

Oleśnica railway station restored

The reconstruction of the historic Oleśnica railway station, dating back to 1868, is nearing completion. A dedicated passenger area has been created, and the ticket office has been relocated.

Warsaw Uni building underway

The University of Warsaw has signed a contract with the general contractor for a project at ul. Bednarska 2/4. The new building will house the faculties of Journalism, Information and Bibliology and Economic Sciences, as well as the Academic Campus Radio. Construction work will begin at the end of November.

The Museum of Polish History in Warsaw, designed by the WXCA studio, was one of seven winners of the ULI Global Awards for Excellence 2024, awarded by the Urban Land Institute. Presented in the Arts and Culture category, the award is one of the highest international honours in the real estate and urban planning industry.

Nova Marina for sailors in Gdynia
