Poland Building permit for Teatr Rozmaitości

Public buildings
A building permit has been issued for the Teatr Rozmaitości in Warsaw and work can begin on the building designed by New York architectural studio Thomas Phifer and Partners with PA Wojciechowski and Buro Happold.

The engineering work and project management have been entrusted to ECM Group Polska and Portico Project Management. The theatre, together with the Modern Art Museum will make up a two-building complex on Plac Centralny next to the Palace of Science and Culture. Teatr Rozmaitości will have two areas where films, concerts and other events can be staged. The main stage will include seating for 700 people, while the smaller stage will seat 150. The space in both rooms can be freely configured.

Two gates are to join the building with Plac Defilad and Świętokrzyski park. The upper floors of the building are to provide rooms for artistic studios and educational purposes as well as sound studios, video studios and rehearsal and reading rooms. The backstage area will be within the central section of the building as well as in the basement.

Construction work on the Museum of Modern Art has been ongoing since April 2019. The next stage will be to complete the design documentation and hold a tender to find a general contractor. The project is being financed from the city budget and part of the financial plan for 2017-2025.
