Construction work has begun on what is to be one of the largest sports, cultural and social venues in the Czech Republic – in the central city of Jihlava, on the border of Bohemia and Moravia.
The Jihlava Multipurpose Arena, which is due to be completed in two years, is being constructed on the site of the city’s rundown hockey stadium, built in 1956, and should help to revitalise this district. A four-building multifunctional venue is to rise in its place, featuring an adaptable ice rink, a rooftop running track, a gym as well as a sports academy, hospitality zones and shops.
